    Faries ?

Post  SpiritVoices on Wed Aug 20, 2014 3:18 pm

Well,I've picked an innocent sort of topic....

Fairies?   Fairies at the bottom of the garden?

Elves?   And garden sprites?   Those who laugh will be punished...

Seriously though,do we honestly believe in them?
If there are spirits 'up there' why we can't believe in spirits underground?

I'm not talking of the devil.  The devil has his own 'hench men'.

    What would you call those?

Another question?   Where does the word or name 'spirit' come from?

My thoughts instantly picture a nice glass of Bacardie and coke...or a brandy and orange...strange mixture of drink....but I like that.

I also like straight decent forums.....We can argue to our heart's content but not be vicious to each other....Rudeness,arguments do not go down well.    Especially to new members....
The reason why new members turn away...they might think 'What a stinking battle ground that place is!
Mind I've known worse....Where members are flogged to death...why?
I've had a taste of that as well....

Nastiness and politeness never go hand in hand.....

Yes, These are real and can be seen by going into a forest and gazing.

    They're known as nature spirits.

Brandy and orange? What kind, fresh, bottled, cordial or squash?

It has been a battlefield here recently hasn't it. But the quality of the abuse is quite amusing, it is intellectual, opprobrious, scurrilous but no-one seems to have been swearing lol? Although, clever words bite deeper than any sword, and are harder to forgive or heal too, so sometimes a good swearing match clears the air better than any clever slanging match.

Fresh, Crystal.    Beautiful!   Not normally a drinker but I do enjoy that.
I think it's the orange that gives it the taste....

    We're not allowed to swear...and I must admit I don't like either....

Right then, off to squish some oranges and try it out, just so happens I have a bottle of brandy nearby, purely for medicinal purposes of course, oh and to flame my trident lol. :)

I used to think that there were fairies at the bottom of the garden :)

Cant say Ive ever seen a fairy.  Maybe once in a snapshot but think it was ruled a hoax.  Do I believe they exist?  Ehhh, can I say a skeptical believer?  If other things exist, why couldnt a fairy!?  Know that in our woods there are some pretty scary sounds thats for sure.

I don't know very much about the Fae, I know the function of the Fae energy, and what you call fairies are simply expressions of that energy. In the same way as what you call angels are expressions of the angelic energy. At least in their lower forms.

I know Norseman has studied the question of the Fae and what exactly they are....I found it a very interesting subject....
The spirits who dwell on the earth, just how different they are from the spirits who dwell 'above' us....As we assume...

Basically, the Fae energy holds all that is physical in balance.

What I thought.....but couldn't quite put it into words....I'm still pretty ignorant on the whole business.   So how did fairies come to be discovered?   Is there any kind of proof they exist?

I have had two fairy or nature spirit encounters.  The first was about 30 years ago when I was on holiday in an extremely old cottage in north Cornwall. One evening I was walking through the kitchen, I remember it had an old slate floor and there in the middle of the floor was a gnome. He looked almost exactly like the typical garden gnome, was about 18 inches high and dressed in earthy colours.  As I saw him he held up his hands as if defending himself from me and then disappeared.  This all happened in seconds - and no I hadn't been drinking!  I've never forgotten this experience and now whenever I drive past that cottage I say a mental hello to him.

The second experience was around 1998 when I had moved to Cornwall and was walking with a friend in Zennor which is a wild and atmospheric place.  We were walking by a very small shallow stream on Zennor Moor when we saw and heard a gold/orange glittering flame shape (about 10 or 12 inches long) shoot vertically out of the water and then disappear.  We would have thought it was a fish except that it didn't splash back into the water, and also it went several feet into the air.  Looking at the stream we saw that the water was only about an inch or so deep, even dry in places, and so too shallow for fish.  Just as we were about to walk away we saw another - exactly the same.  I have no idea what we saw - I wonder if anyone has any ideas?

I'm sure someone in Cornwell told me there were fairies there.   I laughed at the time but they were adamant about it.    I apologised when I saw they were serious.

It makes think 'just what else lives underground?' :asmile:

Cassy that would have been a Cornish pixie then :)

Zennor is a wonderful place, rich with mines, I wonder if what you saw might have been a chemical reaction in some way? There are so many metals just lying around and being uncovered.

    Hi Crystal

Ah ... you've been to Zennor so you know what I mean about the atmosphere there.  We both agreed that what we saw coming from the stream was a fish or flame shaped "being" (for want of a better word), quite solid really, not like a spark or flame - but that's an interesting idea. I remember saying to my friend at the time that I was glad that we both had seen it - I would have thought I was dreaming if it had just been me!

Yep, I have had lots of visions in the old mines and on the moors, but the whole county is so rich with spookiness it is fantastic. Have you ever tried Bodmin Gaol? They have an old electric chair there and the original hanging pit, ugh, shudder even thinking about it. Not many fairies there but a lot of activity otherwise.

I can well believe it!  There are still older folk living in the far west of Cornwall that have never even been up to Truro.  A friend of mine who is originally from Worcester was a district nurse and when she first started her job in Cornwall she went to see a man living on the Lizard.  He asked her where she was from and she said "Oh I'm from up north".  He replied "What ... Launceston?!!!!"  Launceston was the furthest north he could imagine anyone living!
