    Unknown stone

Post  Violet on Wed Jan 01, 2014 10:23 pm

I was quite randomly given a large piece of what I think is a crystal, i'll try and get a pic up soon but are there stones with green AND purple on?

I would like to see a photo, when you are able to..

three stones come to mind, 'ruby and zoisite' and 'ruby and fuchite', and 'atlantisite' (green serpentine & Stichtite)

Those would be the ones I'd suggest as well. They're really so pretty.

Hi Guys and thanks Whisperingteams for supplying those images but this is more green at one end fading out to purple at the other end (sorry i've not described it very wel  l) but the colours are more wishy washy than in those gorgeous pics and it's not polished, I need to get a pic up really.

That looks almost like an amethyst that's been heated to look like citrine, and been halted mid-process. Or is it the other way, where they heat citrine to make it look like amethyst? I think they call it ametrine.

Can't be sure though... quite an interesting look to it *smiles*

Thanks Kaere that's interesting as I didn't know they messed around with them like that.

Hmmm. Maybe try asking the stone what it is and trust your first instincts as to what you receive?
