    Mediumship and booze

Post  Violet on Tue Apr 30, 2013 12:46 am

Do any of you drink whilst giving readings and do you read for people who have had a drink? What are your thoughts on either?

Not me but my husband even though he was not a regular drinker always used to like a wee dram of brandy at Xmas. The messages used to come rapidly......Maybe spirit used to like the taste as well..

Hi Joanie, I wonder if it's because alcohol loosens you up a little and makes it easier for them to get through, i'm sure many of them would enjoy a tipple though :giggles:

The only problem with that... Is with a drink in you, you have the chance of tainting your message/reading. And a chance of having an unclear connection to spirit. Such as trying to connect to spirit while on a drug of some sorts. I'm sure in some ways the drink could help one get more relaxed into it, I would not suggest a thing as an aid.. Because it could lower ones credibility, and even in the spirit(s) they connect to.

Strangely,Ken used to say his mind was more clear. It was only brandy that helped him.
He was never a drinker actually,a small tot at Xmas usually.
Liked a glass of beer now and again but that was all.

Once that brandy went down, the messages came loud and clear.
Maybe the 'spooks' enjoyed it too...

I rarely drink in the first place but under no circummstances would i drink when giving readings,i have seen mediums who hold their performances in clubs where the drink is flowing, and i have seen the rowdy behaviour of the ppl there drinking.its about respect and in my opinion they havent got any, like joan has said i know of some that have a small tot of something before reading,im not against that what i dont like is the big drinkers who think they can say what they like, for me its about respect ,

often when you do not over do the drink it helps a person to take down his guards and make him more open, some people can be a very good mediums but some inner fear prevent them from it, a drink, not getting drunk but some alcohol inside the system makes the fear go away...

Not habitual drinkers,I may add. One small glass of brandy does not make an alcoholic. He is relaxed and his words are never slurred. Not like some mediums I have observed in the past.

Hubby was a very reticent man,not shy but would never disclose his feelings or mediumship to anyone. He used to receive very accurate messages from spirit.
....but you try and get him to give those messages.... :giggles:

I think alcohol like anything can be an ally or an enemy depending on the effects. Common sense would suggest that if it helps you should use it, but if it doesn't then you shouldn't. Shamans are notorious for their connection to the spirit and they would ingest many types of power plants and even alcohol, but they refer to these as spirits. Each spirit has within it the perceptions offered within its body of awareness, and some have unique abilities. These were often used to learn energetic feats of power and perception, or even to simply alter their consciousness producing a fluid shift. They would work with these spirits building powerful relationships.

True. My husband was not a alcohol drinker. Also remember that Brandy,Whisky etc or whatever sometimes is suggested as a remedy for heavy colds and Flu. :giggles:
