That's a toughie. Negativity is quite easy for me I must say but I try to think positive or distract myself from it. Negativity tends to bring your vibration down and once your vibration is down you're are vulnerable to all kinds of nastiness so it's not something you want to dwell in!

If someone around me is constantly negative, I'll tend to distance myself from them whenever possible. Some people are psychic vampires and will feed off you through their negativity.

Its easy to see nothing good in store for myself but when i speak to anyone else i always tell them, positivity attracts positivity, when you see things in a positive way, everything looks brighter, when you look at things in a negativy way it looks darker,

if you are going through an illlness always approach it in a positive way.because it helps you fight, looking at it negativily you tend to say to yourself, what will be will be.there is a fine line between positivity and negativity, just as there is between love and hate.if you approach things in a positive way you are more likely to sucseed.

I've had a lot of negativity lately from family and friends which made me feel very down.
I now refuse to accept it,I place myself into a positive frame of mine and get on with my life.

You've all raised some good points, about fighting illness a good positive outlook is half of the battle sometimes I think.

Negativity tends to bring your vibration down
got to agree with this too.

That's the best attitude to take, Joanie, don't let anyone drown your spirit.
Negativity often stems from unsatisfaction or worries and people later realize they've been unjust and regret their unkind words or actions.
Maybe some of your positivity will rub off on them - sounds like they need it.
A little love, kindness and understanding goes a long way. You're setting a good example.

Eyeopen life can be very difficult and challenging, but the older you get the easier it becomes (generally,)most people have family and friends they can lean on when times are hard this always helps to pull you through, unfortunately some people can't cope and have no family /friend support, in this case external support should be looked for, support groups and such.

Wow India, i'd go, and can't you meditate there as well? I don't think it will mess it up it may even improve it!

Trust is always difficult especially if you've been hurt badly, but you can learn to trust again, it's hard but it can be done.

Trust is not an absolute necessity in life.
Being realistic about others and ourselves helps to keep expectations within reasonable limits so as to avoid too much disappointment.
I always find it easier when someone 'betrays' me to put myself in their shoes and try to see things from their perspective, and especially to remember times when I have done or said certain things, in a perhaps deluded attempt to help others, which they themselves might have perceived as a 'betrayal' on my part.
Most people are not unkind at heart and may take a stand against us in the belief that it's what is best for us, and at times it turns out they are right.
Things are not always what they seem at first glance, so we must not turn away from anyone who may after all only be seeking to do us good, though not necessarily going about it in a way that makes it clear to us.

Hi Deepwaters, you're right but it's good if you can trust at least one other person.

Being able to step into others' shoes is very useful when we're hurt this has helped me forgive almost everything in the past but there are many I will never trust again.

Joanie, when you know you're appreciated it boosts the morale and I, for one, enjoy your perky comments and reminiscences.
It sounds like you're lonely. Some people are fine living alone, but it appears you're not one of them. Don't let sadness overwhelm you though.
Do you have a pet? A cat or dog can be wonderful company as well as very affectionate and loving. Walking the dog can get you into friendly conversations with other dog owners too, thus alleviating your loneliness a little.
There's always a positive side to every situation, and it can sometimes be fun looking for it. (!)
    Cheer up.

I have a very good family but they all work.

Sometimes it becomes lonely during the day time hours.

I live in sheltered accomondation supposed to be for single people who are able to look after themselves like myself.

But they are now bringing in old folks who need carers to fill the properties up. (high rents here) I do feel sorry for these real old folks and offer to help when I can,but sometimes when I see them,it reminds me of how we will all get as we get that little older. Some are into their 90's and can hardly walk. Enough to depress anyone....but God bless 'em!

Thanks for your lovely words,Deepwaters, you are a kind soul indeed.

    Oh,pets are not allowed here....shame.

I would love a small Yorkie like I used to have years ago.

    Cats are forbidden.

Oh, I didn't realize you weren't in your own home, Joanie. But don't fix on the worst scenario re the residents who need carers, everybody is different and you yourself may stay fit and never need outside help.

Such a pity pets aren't allowed and a strange rule to maintain these days when they even have dogs visiting hospitals because it's been proven they do the patients good.

It must be a comfort to have close family near even if they aren't available during the day. Some retired people I know have joined various clubs so they can enjoy activities with others or just sit and converse together, isn't there anything like that where you are?

They have card playing and Bingo but that is not me.

That means I am still stuck on the site where I live.

I need to get out,I love fresh air.

    Always been an outside person...

    Rather claustrophobic person.

    You are such a kind person,thank you,Deepwaters.

Joanie, there are other options to card playing and bingo: tea dances, walks, swimming, reading club, scrabble, outings (picnics, visits to parks and gardens, museums, exhibitions, etc). Unless you're cut off in a village somewhere there must be an organization that provides events for senior citizens. There's probably a yearly subscription plus a forfeit to pay for some of the outings, but it's usually a minimal fee. Have you tried Googling or contacting the town hall? I'm surprised that your sheltered housing complex doesn't organize such things for the residents, or at least have pamphlets with details of what's going on in your area and the person to contact if you want to participate.

    http://www.cambridge.gov.uk/ccm/content/leisure-and-entertainment/events-for-senior-citizens.en

I don't like to be stuck indoors either, so I can imagine how bored you must feel at times.
Good luck with finding some activities you can enjoy.
