Obviously these represent growth and strength, I just wondered if there was any other meaning attached to trees?

Re: Trees?
My book about symbols says that....Trees are the surpreme natural symbols of dynamic growth, seasonal death and regeneration.
Reverence for their power goes back to primitive beliefs that gods and spirits inhabit them.
Animist symbolism of this kind survives in European folklore of the tree-man or Green Man.
In fairy tales, trees can be either protective or grant wishes, or appear as frightening, obstructive, even demonic.
As mythologies developed, the idea of a tree forming a central axis for the flow of divine energy linking supernatural and natural worlds took symbolic shape in the legendary Tree of Life....
.a cosmic tree rooted in the waters of the underworld and passing through earth to heaven.
An almost universal symbol, The Tree of Life often becomes a metaphor for the whole of creation.
By its very form, the tree is a metaphor for evolution, its branches representing diversity, its trunk unity.
