I have never worried about Friday 13th as it only a number, and I am not a superstitious person. Walking under a ladder shouldnt be done at anytime due to safety reasons, and I love black cats. Disaster can happen on any day.
Does anybody know where the superstition surrounding Friday 13th came from?

fear of Friday the 13th is rooted in ancient,
separate bad-luck associations with the number 13 and the day Friday.
The two unlucky entities combine to make one super unlucky day.

There is a Norse myth about 12 gods having a dinner party at Valhalla,
their heaven. In walked the uninvited 13th guest, the mischievous Loki.
Once there, Loki arranged for Hoder, the blind god of darkness, to
shoot Balder the Beautiful, the god of joy and gladness, with a
mistletoe-tipped arrow. Balder died and the Earth got dark. The whole
    Earth mourned.

There is a Biblical reference to the unlucky
number 13. Judas, the apostle who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th guest to
    the Last Supper.
A particularly bad Friday the 13th occurred in
the middle ages. On a Friday the 13th in 1306, King Philip of France
arrested the revered Knights Templar and began torturing them, marking
the occasion as a day of evil.

In ancient Rome, witches reportedly gathered in groups of 12. The 13th was believed to be the devil.

Both Friday and the number 13 were once closely associated with capital
punishment. In British tradition, Friday was the conventional day for
public hangings, and there were supposedly 13 steps leading up to the
    noose.

It is traditionally believed that Eve tempted Adam
with the apple on a Friday. Tradition also has it that the Flood in the
Bible, the confusion at the Tower of Babel, and the death of Jesus
Christ all took place on Friday.

    Numerologists consider 12 a
"complete" number. There are 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the
zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 labors of Hercules, 12 tribes of Israel,
and 12 apostles of Jesus. In exceeding 12 by 1, 13's association with
bad luck has to do with just being a little beyond completeness.

FRIDAY THE 13TH - how is fear of the number thirteen demonstarted?

More than 80 percent of high-rises lack a 13th floor.
Many airports skip the 13th gate.
    Airplanes have no 13th aisle.
Hospitals and hotels regularly have no room number 13.
Italians omit the number 13 from their national lottery.
On streets in Florence, Italy, the house between number 12 and 14 is addressed as 12 and a half.
Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue
In France, socialites known as the quatorziens (fourteeners) once made
themselves available as 14th guests to keep a dinner party from an
    unlucky fate.
Many triskaidekaphobes, as those who fear the
unlucky integer are known, point to the ill-fated mission to the moon,
    Apollo 13.
If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the
devil's luck . Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer,
Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names.

I believe the Knights Templar murders on Friday the 13th is one of the reasons why that day in particular is a bad day. Most are just how the number 13 is unlucky.. That was one of the only times that Friday, and 13 was combined.

Some pretty bad things Violet. Nothing anyone can do about it though.
Just get a few batteries and some canned food. A radio is a good idea.
The power grid may come down for a while. I am in the US, so Im not sure if this will be global though.
I would not depend on the internet at all.

I know Violet, Im sorry, I am not a doomsayer tho...

A battery powered multiband shortwave radio is always good, or any AM station is fine for emergencies. Just recharge everything you have before hand.
Extra gas for a generator would also be good, because gas stations will be empty very fast.

Just be careful during that month.

    LOL Tony

I was born on friday the 13th

Its true my life is a battlefield, but so far I didnt change into demon...maybe just the other was around,
I believe even though my life is imo comparatively dangerous and intense I do have an extra protection.

Friday the 13th combines number 13...in Tarot that belongs to the card Death..
as 12 is fullness , next number destroys the created fullness that it can be recreated.
Friday is the day of Freya (Venus) and so love.

Both Love and Death walks in one direction...destruction of Ego, (at least for a moment).
Destruction of Ego might seem scary, but it is in reality the Grace of God.

    So...

Akyana, "Friday is the day of Freya (Venus) and so love."
In all these years I have never heard of anything so positive about that time.
Seems I have dragged this around for a very long time, I hope I am wrong.

I found you some text about the day too...

It basically sugests that the fear has Christian origine,
while for pagans its rather lucky I would say!

Some historians suggest the Christian distrust of Fridays is actually
linked to the early Catholic Church's overall suppression of pagan
religions and women. In the Roman calendar, Friday was devoted to
Venus, the goddess of love. When Norsemen adapted the calendar, they
named the day after Frigg, or Freya, Norse goddesses connected to love and sex.
Both of these strong female figures once posed a threat to
male-dominated Christianity, the theory goes, so the Christian church
vilified the day named after them.
This characterization may also have played a part in the fear of the number 13. It was said that Frigg would often join a coven of witches,
normally a group of 12, bringing the total to 13. This idea may have
originated with the Christian Church itself; it's impossible to verify
the exact origins of most folklore. A similar Christian legend holds
that 13 is unholy because it signifies the gathering of 12 witches and
    the devil.
The number 13 could also have been considered pagan because
there are 13 months in the pagan lunar calendar. The lunar calendar
also corresponds to the human menstrual cycle, connecting the number to
    femininity.

    EDIT:

    and another very interesting link:
    http://www.crystalinks.com/friday13th.html

    Mythology
Friday the 13th superstitions originated in a Norse myth about twelve gods having a feast in Valhalla. The mischievous Loki
crashed the party as an uninvited 13th guest and arranged for Hod, the
blind god of darkness, to shoot Baldur, the god of joy and gladness,
    with a mistletoe-tipped arrow.
Baldur was killed and the Earth was
plunged into darkness and mourning as a result.
Later she was confused with the goddess of love, Freya, who in turn
    became identified with Friday.
When the Norsemen and Germanic tribes
became Christians, Freya was supposed to have been banished to the
mountains as a witch. Friday came to be called 'witches' Sabbath.
    It
was believed that on this day, each week, twelve witches and the Devil
met - thirteen evil spirits in all.

Thank you Akyana, you seem to be so thorough and thoughtful about people. You are a true friend and someone I’m glad to know here.

Its funny that link showed something interesting here:
13 = (1+3) = 4 = closure of our reality program or the evolution of consciousness back into light.
4 also references the number 40, given significance throughout history. Year 40 was a leap year starting on Friday of the Julian calendar.

Seems that God really had a good reason to have 40 years pass before landing on the 13th, again. Seems something is going to happen this August. To know he is ONLY about love, I may be in for a very wonderful surprise. I have never felt anything so intense about anything in my life as to what is going to happen in 3 months. I dont think it is going to be just a simple party either, and I dont think it will just affect me. Get out your beliefs in him and watch a very big change that is going to happen this summer. I dont think this is going to be small.
