    The Tarot Collectors Thread

Post  Violet on Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:59 am

I'm making this a sticky, as I think it would be great to have somewhere to discuss tarot card collections and unusual or rare decks, and to compare notes.

Even if you aren't a collector you may find the discussions in here interesting and even help you in your choice of deck.

So.... for any collector out there which deck is the most important to you personally and why?

Well the Rider Waite is my main working deck because i admire Rider Waite as he was a genius ..many sets of cards are just copy of his original ideas..i can see rider waite in loads of decks so allthough some are beautiful they still have the waite themes i will take a photo tommorow and show you what i am trying to say..

I really enjoy Psychic Tarot (for any kind of reading), Legacy of the Divine Tarot (imagery), Ascended Masters, Osho Zen (spiritual evolution), Wisdom of the Hidden Realms, and the Rider-Waite deck. I have other decks, but these are my favorites.

I have collected quite a few decks (maybe 100?) over the last 15 years and unfortunately had to sell most of them due to finances and several moves. My all-time favorite deck that I use frequently is Tarot of the Ages because it is a multi-cultural deck and the artwork is incredible. I bought the Transparent Tarot deck purely for collector purposes because it's so different. One of my other collector decks is the Granny Jones Australian Tarot.

Hi Soulstories ,what a shame you had to part with all those cards, the tarot of the ages is a lovely deck though I don't use it, the transparent tarot (if it's the one i'm thinking of) is definately a collectors deck and on my 'wanted' list.

I only have one deck that is attached to me, which is the Celestial Deck. I also am attracted to a deck called Nerfarti Deck.

I definately don't have either of those.

Not me, but I recently put in an order for Celtic Dragon Tarot (the lisa hunt one I hope lol) with a healing shop in my hometown. :) The Mystic Dreamer Tarot is a lovely deck, and so is the NA Tarot by Laura Tuan. The NA deck was my first deck pretty much LOL I still love that deck and have found my interpretations to be quite accurate with it.

So I recently was told that I was to 'get stuck in' with the two faery decks I bought and cleansed, and as well as angel decks, now I don't have many angel decks - just the one. :) And I don't like to use it because of the previous influences of energies, that and it didn't sit right with me at first but that was probably because I was being a bit 'closed' minded. Hmm... will have to rethink on that. As for the Merlin deck, not heard of it. Is it newly out?

The Pyschic Oracle Tarot deck is my one and only deck. I have yet to make it my 'own' as it was the last one (and the display set), but it felt right and the artwork is beautiful. The cards all seem to have reassuring and all reaffirming meanings too.
